Snow Days!

I'm as bad as the kids when it comes to snow days! It's always so much fun to get an unexpected day off! So far this year, we've had 8 snow days and have had a lot of fun playing in the snow and trying out our new snow equipment--a sled and a snowball gun. Yes, this is the first year we've had a real sled (hard to believe, huh?) Last year, we used a boogie board and the year before that we tried a trash can lid, but that was a big flop! Cooper and Colton both really enjoyed sledding, throwing snowballs, and making snow angels! Fun times!

Christmas 2010

Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I love everything about it--the birth of our Saviour, getting together with family and friends, a much-needed break from school, the delight on my boys' faces as they unwrap their presents, decorating cookies and our Christmas tree, enjoying the Christmas lights that adorn many houses, and all the great food, games, and laughter! It's a magical time of year, and it never ceases to bring out the kid in me!

Kansas Family

I enjoyed getting to see my Kansas family in November during my parents' Annual Open House. We got to stay at my parents' Sherman House Bed & Breakfast one last time before they sold it. It was bittersweet. A lot of good memories are wrapped up in that place!

Elk Falls Outhouse Tour

Every November, we have fun going to my hometown in Elk Falls, Kansas to see my parents and to enjoy the town festivities of their Annual Open House and Outhouse Tour. I know it sounds weird, but my hometown has all these old outhouses, and someone got the idea of fixing them up and decorating them according to a certain theme. Then people come from all over to vote on their favorite. The winner gets a cash prize. During the same weekend, my parents also have their Annual Open House for their pottery business. My mom makes DELICIOUS hot, spiced cider and lots of different quick breads! There are other town activites and vendors as well. It's a lot of fun!

Sept. trips to KC & St. Louis

In early Sept., we took a couple trips to St. Louis & Kansas City with the boys! While in KC, we went to World's of Fun, the T-Rex Cafe, and a KC Royals baseball game! Cooper even got to run the bases at the Royals game! While in St. Louis, we went to the City Museum & Magic House, went up in the Arch, and Jim & Cooper went to a Cardinals game. They even got to tour the Stadium before the game! They were both VERY fun trips that the boys have been talking about ever since (and it's February now!) :)
